It's been a while...

It's been a while since I last posted, mainly because school and work have taken a priority, and craft shows had slowed down a bit during what I consider the "off" season.  But shows have started picking back up and I hope to be able to do a bunch more!  Yesterday was my first of the year, and although I didn't sell much, it was nice to get back out on the crafting scene.  Here are some photos of my booth:

Slow Going...

Ugh! I have had two disapponting shows in two weeks, but I've come to realize that is the chance I take.  I did have a few sales at the Veedersburg Holiday Shoppe, but I think because our town is so small there just wasnt enough foot traffic.  My show yesterday at the Moose Family Center in Lafayette, In was a total bust though.  It was basically blizzarding the whole time and I could count on two hands how many people came in from off the street.  I got a lot of lookers from fellow venders and lots of, "I'll be back later to get what I want," but no one bought anything.

2014 is a new year with lots of new shows, and now that I know I need to look for shows well in advance, hopefully I can get into a few of the big ones.  Wish me luck :)

Upscale Boutique Critique

I had been invited to show my art the Holly Jolly Holiday Boutique in Danville,Il yesterday.  The layout was beautiful and it definitely had a boutique vibe, but there were far too few people and I sold far too few items.  It was a fun experience, but I think I'll stick to just craft fairs.  I have another one in mid December, but I need to find ones I can slip into to fill my empty weekends.

One good thing I have noticed about having good and bad shows is that I am constantly looking for ways to improve my displays.  Just look at the differences from one show to the next, it's amazing!  I'm always looking for new displays (saw a gorgeous tailor bust aptly named Lady Gaga - I'll have to see if I can find a picture) and ways to adjust my spread to get a good flow.  Wish me luck at my next show!

St. James Craft Fair

My second craft show at the St. James Lutheran School was awesome!  The pegboard display that my husband made for me was perfect. I sold lots of charms and several coaster sets.  The best part is that I got my name out there!  I'm already brainstorming ideas for making my next show in a few weeks an even bigger success!

Busy Bee

I've been a busy, busy girl.  After my disappointing show last Saturday (didn't even make it past set up - wind was so strong it tried to blow away my canopy, even with cement weights), I spent Monday searching for more local craft shows.  I found several, and while most said they were full, the one set for this weekend accepted my application.  I cannot wait!  I have hubby putting together my new table top display and I am busy making/finishing new charms and tile coasters.  Not to mention transferring all my charms/pendats from bags to card. There is so much to do in so little time!  Pictures soon!

Welcome!

Welcome to my scrabble tile craft blog!  I'm one of those people that when I get an idea or inspiration, I run with it, and this has been one of those ideas.  It began with the desire to create scrabble tile magnets for my preschool classroom.  Once those were complete I was left with many tiles and no idea what to do with them.  During a stroll through pinterest, I came across scrabble tile pendants and a giant lightbulb appeared over my head.

When I say I run with an idea, I don't mean it lightly; I began buying up all sorts of craft paper, every kind of mod podge available, and as many scrabble tiles as I could find (ebay has become my new best friend for it). I currently have several thousand scrabble tiles, but less than half have been turned into charms.

I started showing them to friends and family and many started buying them up!  I also opened an etsy shop, but because I can't afford to do the extra advertising, I'm just relying on word of mouth.  I've also stepped into the world of craft shows, only one so far, so I'm still working out all the kinks.

My other passions include photography and graphic design, so I intend to make this blog very image heavy, just a warning ;)

And remember to enjoy the small things in life!
